Ellie Goldstein, an 18 year old model with Down’s Syndrome, became a face of Gucci earlier this summer, appearing in the brand’s latest mascara campaign.
The image of Goldstein, with a ‘raven flick’ of Gucci Mascara L’Obscur, received over 850,000 Instagram likes - ten times the number on Gucci’s average post. At 15, the Essex born model signed to Zebedee Management – an organisation that hopes to increase the representation of people with disabilities within fashion, media and the arts – and has since been championing diversity in fashion and beauty. Speaking to Vogue, Goldstein commented ‘Representation is very important to me — let the world see that anyone can model and act with a disability’.
